David Kuria AfricAqua Founder and CEO

Kamau Kuria (2015 ASPEN Fellow), is the Chief Executive Officer at AfricAqua Limited, 2014 Crans Montana- New Leaders for Tomorrow and the Regional Social Entrepreneur of the Year for Africa 2009. He is a Ph.D. candidate in Project Management, at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, with research interests in Economic Development, Public/Private Partnerships and Infrastructure Implementation Strategies.

He holds a Degree in Architecture from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Master of Business Administration – Corporate Management from KCA University, Post-graduate Executive Certificate on Public Policy in Private Sector Development- 2014 at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and Strathmore Business School and Post-graduate Studies on Sustainable Communities, (Bridging the Gap between Research and Action)- at Helsinki University of Technology, Finland.

He is currently a member of the GOK/UNDAF 2015-16 Technical Working Group and an MBA Innovations tutor 2015- with Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

Ken Ndirangu Kariuki, Board Member

Ken Ndirangu Kariuki is the managing director Khweza Consulting Limited. Kariuki has previously worked as director of corporate affairs and marketing manager for the East African Breweries Limited (EABL). Also worked as Brand Manager for Pilsner ice and Tusker Malt Lager. He has also served as product manager, marketing executive as well as marketing assistant at Haco Industries Limited where he once worked as an intern student.

Kariuki is an MBA holder from United States International University (USIU), BSC degree in International Business Administration from USIU among other certifications.

He is the winner of “Africa’s Finest Castle” decoration in recognition for the best employee in marketing department in 2003. He was also offered Marketing Society of Kenya Award for promotion of the year “Mawindo ya Mfalme” in 2001.    

Mohammed Hussein Gabbow, Board Member

Mohammed Hussein Gabbow is the current Executive Director National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD). Gabbow has served in the previous governments as Member of Parliament for Wajir North constituency and as an assistant minister in the ministry of State for Special Programmes in the Coalition Government. He also took a leading role in the constitution of Kenya review commission both in Marsabit district and at the Bomas of Kenya during the constitution review conference. He has served as a Community Liaison Manager at Lake Turkana wind power and also as a chief rehabilitation coordinator at Farm Africa. Gabbow is also the founder, Northern-Solar (K) Limited.

Gabbow is an MBA holder in Global Business and sustainability from Universita Cattollica Del Sacro Cuore and BA Sociology from Moi University. He won business plan competition in Universita Cattollica Del Sacro Cuore in 2012.

Christine Mwangi, Board Member   

Among the other previously held positions, Christine Mwangi is the former Executive Assistant to deputy Vice Chancellor-Research, Strathmore University where she spearheaded the proposal to the Rockefeller foundation. She is currently the Deputy Director-Executive Education, Strathmore institute for public policy and governance.

Christine holds a Master of Economics in co-operation and human development from Kenyatta University in collaboration with University of Pavia (Italy). She is also a holder of Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from University of Nairobi among other certifications.
